NVIDIA continues to develop its DLSS 5. One thing is certain: it has been the talk of the town in recent weeks. Our most recent update noted that, when enabled, it led to increased power consumption, higher temperatures, and a 12V-2×6 connector that was nearing saturation.
The good news is that NVIDIA seems to have successfully fixed these issues. In fact, yesterday, NVIDIA announced a new model for DLSS 5 that is said to be twice as fast—in terms of AI processing time—but more importantly, one that uses 20% less memory at 2160p resolution. We should therefore see much better power consumption control. NVIDIA also took the opportunity to announce that DLSS 5 will be supported in NBA 2K27 on October 16 and in Hogwarts Legacy on November 5. While we don’t have the first game yet, we’ll be on the lookout to test DLSS 5 in early November with Hogwarts Legacy.
Of course, the RTX 50 series will take center stage in this test, as they are currently the only cards that support it. NVIDIA had announced support for the RTX 40 series as soon as the model is fully optimized. The first images of this new model give a different impression from what we initially saw, with completely different facial features.
One thing is certain: DLSS 5 is evolving—and in the right direction. If we recall the first presentation of the DLSS 5 model, the PC used featured two RTX 5090 graphics cards. NVIDIA also announced that its model has become 10 times more powerful since its initial announcement last March.
Stay tuned for early November, when we’ll be able to evaluate DLSS 5 in *Hogwarts Legacy*.
