Chieftec is announcing a new case with a highly original design, resembling a subwoofer. Obviously, we’re dealing with a PC that will easily fit into a living room, given its resemblance to a hifi component. However, the brand is taking a different path from all those boxes that look like home-cinema amplifiers.
The Cube: a subwoofer-like Chieftec box!
With this new case, the brand offers us a reference in micro-ATX format with a flat motherboard tray. This translates into dimensions of 265 (W) x 385 (D) x 355 (H) mm. Weight is kept to a minimum, with the case weighing just 4.64 kg on the scales.
Internally, we find support for micro-ATX and mini-ITX motherboards. As for the length of the graphics card, 335 mm of clearance is provided, compared with 160 mm for the CPU cooler. The power supply, in ATX format, cannot exceed 160 mm in depth.
The basic case features a single 200 mm fan mounted behind the front panel. If desired, a 120 mm fan can be mounted at the rear, with two more at the top, or a 200 mm fan. In all cases, watercooling radiator support is limited to 240 mm.
Once again, some will appreciate the aesthetic choice, since the enclosure easily merges with a subwoofer. So it’s no shock to see it mounted next to a TV set. Finally, for your HTPC, you have a choice: subwoofer or amplifier (like Grandia GD11), which team do you belong to?
