RTX 50 Super for Christmas?

Things seem to be getting clearer for NVIDIA and the launch of its future RTX 50 Super range. Indeed, a refresh series is on the agenda and should arrive by the end of the year. There’s talk of a Christmas launch, so we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, the cards should showcase a gain in VRAM, while the number of cuda cores should rise marginally .

RTX 50 Super: more VRAM on cards and Christmas launches?

In broad terms, this little dust-up of NVIDIA’s card range will mainly bring an improvement in VRAM capacities. Indeed, it is expected that the chameleon will opt for GDDR7 memory chips in 24 Gb (3 GB) and not 2 GB as is currently the case. This would enable the company to increase the memory capacities of its series. Thus, we could have an RTX 5070 Super equipped with 18 Gb of VRAM, as opposed to 24 Gb for the RTX 5080.

In addition to this gain in memory, there is talk of slight increases in the number of SMs for certain references. Beware, however, that not all cards will be entitled to this. Initial feedback suggests that only the RTX 5070 Super will see a gain in this respect. This would mean a reduction from 58 to 50, enough to exploit the full GB205! Otherwise, the RTX 5070 Ti Super would still benefit from 70 SM, while the RTX 5080 Super would still be at 84 SM, the maximum configuration.

However, we’re not ruling out small frequency gains here and there. GPUs could run faster. In the meantime, the RTX 5080 Super is said to feature faster memory: 32 Gbps, which would improve memory bandwidth from 960 GB/s to 1024 GB/s.

Of course, small increases in TDP are also to be expected with the increase in memory capacities and frequencies.
