The Ryzen AI Max+ 395, aka Strix Halo, is an APU that intrigues as much as it attracts. Initially designed for high-performance notebooks and mobile devices, we’re starting to see it in mini PCs and even “classic” configurations. Accompanied by a good amount of RAM, it impresses with its advanced technical features, such as its ability to execute 128 billion-parameter language models locally, giving it AI credentials.

But it’s precisely the use of its unified memory that poses a problem, as it drives up its price. But according to recent leaks from Chinese laptop specialists, a reference equipped with this processor and “only” 32GB could cost less than $1,000, making this power affordable.

A prototype with this in mind has been detailed in the video above over the last few hours. This laptop, christened AIM MAX+, appears to come from Aimlaptops. Its aim is to bring the price of a Ryzen AI Max+ 395 laptop down to less than $1,000, whereas solutions can currently be found at $2,000-$3,000.

Ryzen AI Max+ 395: is such a price credible at this point in time?

If the prices of Strix Halo solutions are clearly making people cringe, reaching a solution around the $1,000 mark seems hardly credible. Aimlaptops is a young, modestly-sized company, and if you want to look a little harder, you’ll find a credible player, Framework PC, which is offering pre-orders for its Framework Desktop boards that easily exceed this price. To get an idea, you can find the lower-end Ryzen AI Max 385 motherboard with 32GB at $799 (€929 in Europe)…Ryzen AI MAX 395 +

You can also find the GMKtec EVO-X2 AI mini PC, in 128GB, at €2,249… So it seems difficult to fully assemble a notebook PC at this price level, unless AMD’s aim is to cut prices sharply on its components. In the video we relayed above, the author thinks he knows that this laptop will be launched in early October 2025 on the Chinese market…At Overclocking.com we’ve chosen to follow the saying of Saint Thomas…So we’re waiting to see before we believe 😉
