AMD Ryzen 9000X3D finally delayed until 2025?

A few hours ago, at least two sources told us about a potential presentation of the Ryzen 9000X3D during Gamescom. Naturally, we were quick to share this information, while making it clear that “Presentation” in no way meant “Launch”. Initially, the 9000X3D was scheduled for release between late September and mid-October 2024. However, well-known leaker HXL claims that these processors will be postponed and officially announced at CES in Las Vegas, i.e. in January 2025. That’s quite a discrepancy between morning and afternoon news. In both cases, please note that we are dealing with rumors, even if each of the sources here is highly credible. The first concrete piece of information is that we won’t have long to wait, since AMD has scheduled its event for 22/08/2024…

Ryzen 9000X3d: huge contradictions in just a few hours.

Such a rapid release of the 9000X3D could indeed add further difficulty to the commercial life of the classic Ryzen 9000. And let’s be objective, the latter are already not enjoying the best conditions for a commercial launch. But if this delay is confirmed, how can we explain such an upheaval at AMD, when the company’s policy is to stick to its roadmaps? We’re obviously just speculating here, but the problems encountered by the 9000X could be at the root of this postponement. At this point, end-users can only conclude that if they’re making a performance/price trade-off, the Ryzen 7000X3Ds are the sensible choice. What’s more, AMD continues to bring the range to life, with a 7600X3D seemingly imminent.

The arrival of the Ryzen 9000X3D in the current context would almost inevitably force AMD to lower the prices of all its references. And this still doesn’t guarantee the success of this new range, as the 7000X3Ds will be around for some time yet. The reds could then wait for things to settle down, hoping for a miracle solution brought about by new BIOS or a Windows 11 update that would help improve performance. A small star seems to be shining for Intel and its next Core Ultra 200s, due in early October…unless the curse strikes again 🙂
