[GAMESCOM] Will AMD announce the Ryzen 9000X3D in the next few hours?

According to the latest leaks on the scene, AMD could unveil its new Ryzen 9000X3D processors at Gamescom this week. After the chaotic launch of the Ryzen 9000X, this could be a case of AMD lighting a counter-fire to try and quell all the bad feedback that keeps piling up. AMD has scheduled a “Gaming Festival” event for August 23, with a window for announcements. It is rumored that, in addition to the presentation of the new motherboards (of which a great deal of information is now available), there will be a whole section aimed at enthusiasts and gamers, during which AMD will announce the 9000X3D. Rumors of a possible Zen 5 3D V-Cache announcement were triggered by the discovery of a hidden HTML code on the ASUS X870E/X870/B850/B840 website. The code alludes to a simultaneous announcement of Ryzen 9000X3D processors alongside 800 series motherboards.

However, “announcement” does not mean “launch”. Accelerating this timetable would be a way for the Reds to feed the media with something new, and thus avoid the ongoing bad buzz dragging on. It also has to be said that the launch of the new chipsets alone is unlikely to calm things down. Indeed, we’ve already known for several weeks that these chipsets don’t represent a significant upgrade over the existing 700 series offerings. The main change is the increase in PCIe Gen 5 lanes (on lower-end references) and USB 4 support (already available on certain references of the previous generation). On the other hand, it seems possible that AMD will open the floodgates to a much better supply of motherboards for smaller budgets with the B840 and B850 chipsets (under $120). Perhaps that’s where the real novelty lies.

We’ll be sure to bring you all the latest information in the hours to come.
