The AM4 has a decidedly long lifespan. Despite the release of the AM5 platform, AMD is said to be working on new AM4 processors. According to leaker @chi11eddog on Twitter, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 5 5500X3D could well be arriving soon. All the more reason to extend the platform’s lifespan!
Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 5 5500X3D, two new AM4 CPUs coming soon?
AMD is said to be working on new AM4 CPUs. The larger of the two would be the 5700X3D, with a total of eight hyperthreaded cores. The smaller 5500X3D, on the other hand, would feature six cores and 12 threads. In terms of frequencies, unfortunately, it won’t be as high as the 5800X3D, since the 5700(X3D) boasts a 4.1 GHz boost versus 4.00 GHz for the 5500X3D. For comparison, the 5800X3D is at 4.5 GHz.
Finally, the strength of this series lies in the presence of 3D V-Cache memory. These processors benefit from a massive 96 MB of L3 cache. In total, with the L2, these two models will benefit from 100 MB of cache memory. This boost is particularly useful for video games, where performance is boosted.
New AM4 Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 5 5500X3D are coming ? ???
5700X3D: 8C/16T, 4.1GHz/3.0GHz, 96MB L3 cache,
5500X3D: 6C/12T, 4.0GHz/3.0GHz, 96MB L3 cache.— chi11eddog (@g01d3nm4ng0) November 14, 2023
All that remains now is to find out how much these models will cost. Ditto for availability, since AMD also offers the Ryzen 5 5600X3D, though this is exclusive to MicroCenter in the USA. Let’s hope AMD distributes them globally, so that everyone can enjoy them!
