A new case from Fractal Design, announcing its Terra model. It’s a reference in mini-ITX format, so it’s very compact. However, its distinctive feature is a wooden front panel – walnut, to be precise!
Terra: a Fractal case with a wooden front panel!
With this case, we inevitably find a sober, very compact reference. It measures just 153 (W) x 343 (D) x 218 (H) mm, and weighs just 3.1 kg on the scale.
Internally, space is limited, with only enough room for a mini-ITX motherboard. On the other hand, there’s plenty of room for the graphics card, which is 322 mm long, up to 145 mm high and 72 mm thick. For its part, the CPU cooling unit will be limited to 77 mm maximum, 48 mm minimum.
In terms of storage, we find classic possibilities for this format, with two 2.5″ slots included. However, there appear to be none for 3.5″ hard disks.
Ventilation is reduced to the bare minimum, with only a 120 mm slot at the bottom. It’s a pity, since this is a case with the smallest possible footprint. What’s more, there will be no slots for watercooling radiators either.
Nevertheless, the brand has tried to offer something functional, with Velcro strips for easy wiring. Likewise, we find panels held in place by a push-pin system, or an adjustable motherboard tray to leave more space for the graphics card or CPU cooler. Yes, this is a compartmentalized ITX model, with a compartment entirely dedicated to the graphics card.
As for the price, it’s hot, since in our part of the world, it’s a case available from €199.00!
