TG-60: Thermaltake launches liquid metal as TIM!

Thermaltake launches its TG-60 a new syringe including… Liquid metal. Yes, it’s not thermal paste as such. If this type of TIM (Thermal Interface Material) has the advantage of a high thermal conductivity, it comes with some, big, defects.

TG-60 : Thermaltake launches its liquid metal!

Thermaltake TG-60For the time being, we don’t know much about this new product. If the brand has put online its technical data sheet, it will remain very, very succinct. As it stands, we simply know that this model has a thermal conductivity of 52 W/mK. As you can see, the conductivity is more than six times higher than that of a classic paste like the MX-4 from Arctic. However, this type of TIM generates other problems since it is a corrosive material when it comes into contact with certain metals. In fact, it should only be used on nickel-plated, corrosion-resistant surfaces. It should not be used on copper because of the risk of corrosion, and it should not be used on aluminum. The base of the heatsink would end up being too corroded to be usable. Next to that, the syringe comes with applicators, cleaning wipes and a nozzle to facilitate the deposit. Again, no price has been announced.
