AMD still wants to release the RX 6500 XT and the RX 6400

While many of us suspect AMD to reserve its production capacities for its ultra profitable products, it seems that the reds still want to put graphics cards on the market. The RX 6500 XT and the RX 6400. These two cards would obviously be there to occupy the lower end of the market. They would be equipped with a graphics chip Navi 24.

RX 6500 XT and RX 6400: will these cards ever arrive in stores?

This GPU could offer, at most, a configuration of 1024 Stream Processors, or 50% of available cores compared to the Navi 23 graphics chip. For both cards, we would be on a configuration equipped with 4 GB of GDDR6 memory. If we are to believe the rumors, these two cards will be launched in the first quarter of 2022 with a presentation at CES in Las Vegas. However, we can really ask ourselves big questions about the real arrival of these cards. Indeed, given the shortage and rationing of 7nm wafers delivered by TSMC, it is difficult to see the interest of AMD to devote these wafers to “entry-level” products that would necessarily take the place of the CPU / GPU that are going like hotcakes. Objectively, if AMD is considering a launch, without a radical change in semiconductor production, it is very likely that these cards will never arrive in stores.
