ASRock has published a new vBIOS for one of its graphics cards. The RX 7900 XTX Aqua benefits from an update that boosts its frequency. The latter can now officially reach 2935 MHz!

7900 XTX Aqua: up to 2935 MHz boost with new vBIOS!

ASRock RX 7900 XTX Aqua OCAs a reminder, ASRock’s RX 7900 XTX Aqua is a card with a full-cover waterblock installed as standard. This makes it a model to be integrated into a custom watercooling loop by default. So, if your loop is correctly sized, heat dissipation should be very good.

At launch, this was a factory-overclocked card, originally running at 2510 MHz in game mode and reaching 2680 MHz in boost mode. By way of example, AMD’s reference card is rated at 2269 MHz in game mode and 2499 MHz in boost mode.

The brand recently released a new vBIOS enabling even higher boost speeds. On the page dedicated to card support page, we can see that vBIOS Extreme allows you to reach 2935 MHz in boost mode – quite a gain! This is also evident in tests, with the brand claiming an approximate +13.5% gain in benchmark performance on 3DMark Time Spy. It remains to be seen what the trade-offs will be in terms of heat and power consumption.

Of course, updating your graphics card’s firmware is not without risks. To do so, you’ll need to follow the brand’s procedure.
