MSI has every intention of pushing the Core i9 14900KS to the limit. Via chi11eddog on X.com, we learn that the brand is preparing overclocking profiles. However, these are likely to put a strain on your configuration – 6.4 GHz is the target!
6.4 GHz profiles for MSI’s 14900KS!
Via the leaker in question, we can see a capture of an MSI bios featuring P-Core profiles with frequencies reaching 6.4 GHz! As you can see, frequency profiles of :
- 6.3/5.9 GHz
- 6.4/5.9 GHz
- 6.2/5.8 GHz
- 6.3/5.8 GHz
- 6.4/5.8 GHz
Are displayed. The first frequency here represents Thermal Velocity Boost, while the next is linked to Turbo Boost Max 3.0. So, if the CPU is operating within its temperature limits, 6.4 GHz will be reached.
The question now arises as to how this will affect temperatures and power consumption. Once again, an OCCT screenshot showed a CPU with the power consumption limit in the 400W range… What about here? What’s more, don’t expect a processor that runs at low temperatures. Clearly, the PL2 values of 253W mean that an AIO is strongly recommended!
Finally, as a reminder, the CPU is due to arrive tomorrow… Normally at a price of $750, in line with Intel’s previous KS processors!
