3 kg of copper: the price of silence?

Today we discover a new passive heat sink project whose renderings are published by Fanlesstech. This prototype is only at the 3D rendering stage and is the work of Noah Beerstecher in collaboration with Fanlesstech. 100% copper, the first limitation to the effective realization of such a product will clearly be the price. Considering the dimensions of the device, it will require nearly 3 Kg of the purest copper… Such a quantity of material should generate a price exceeding 300€.

It’s hard to say if what we see on the different 3D renderings are techniques that will really bring something in terms of heat conduction / evacuation. We can see 18 thick fins crossed by 5 heat pipes. On the fins, it seems that the heat exchange system is favored by vertical holes whose diameter is smaller on the periphery of each fin to become larger in the center.

Obviously, the other issue will be the maintenance of such a block on the CPU socket. If the prototype does not deal with the fixing system for the moment, this subject will undoubtedly be the second concern of this project if it should see the light of day.
