Solidigm, the brand specializing in SSDs for the professional world, has just introduced a new reference. It boasts a massive 122TB capacity. The presentation took place at the FMS 2024 Summit, a conference focusing on storage solutions.

Solidigm presents a 122TB SSD!

SSD SolidigmSolidigm is definitely on the move these days. Yesterday, we learned of the announcement of the D7 series models, and today a 122TB model has been presented. In the space of just one year, the brand has managed to double the capacity of its products, since in 2023 it launched the D5-5336 with a capacity of 61.44TB. Now we’re up to exactly 122.88 TB!

Of course, with professional SSDs, knowing the control used is always complicated. However, as far as memory is concerned, we know that the brand uses QLC-type memory.

As for performance, we’ll be referring to sequential throughputs of 7.1 GB/s and 3.3 GB/s read/write. As for random performance, we’re talking about 1,269k IOPS. All this is made possible by the use of a PCIe 4.0 interface. Last but not least, the model presented exploited a U.2 format.

Of course, the price of such a model is still unknown (often subject to quotation), but to give you an idea, the price of an 8TB 2.5″ model is, at the very least, €700… And in SATA, please. Availability is scheduled for 2025, with the first batch shipping in the first half of the year.
