On the professional SSD front, Solidigm announces its D7 Series. These include the D7-PS1010 and D7-PS1030 models. Naturally, storage capacities will be high, and they promise to be indestructible!
D7 Series: Solidigm’s indestructible SSDs!
The announcement is all about marketing- it’s logical, the brand has to sell. Nevertheless, we’ve learned that this series comes in two formats: E3.S and U.2. As far as capacities are concerned, we have :
- D7-PS1010: 1.92TB – 3.84TB – 7.68TB – 15.36TB
- D7-PS1030: 1.6TB – 6.4TB – 12.8TB
As for the components used, it’s hard to say what we’re dealing with here. However, we do know that they exploit a PCIe 5.0 interface to deliver maximum performance. Although the figures are not explicitly given, the brand states that its SSDs perform up to 37% better than models offering similar characteristics.
What’s most impressive, however, is the endurance of these SSDs. In its 15.36TB version, the D7-PS1010 can write up to 28 PB. As for the D7-PS1030, the brand goes even further, with a maximum write speed of 70 PB!
Last but not least, these SSDs are designed for use in AI-type servers, which generate a large number of inputs/outputs.
