The AMD/Xilinx marriage for February 14
The takeover of the FPGA manufacturer Xilinx by AMD will take place, the company having received all the approvals from the authorities to finalize the acquisition.
Announced in October 2020, AMD had shown its attention to buy Xilinx for $ 35 billion, allowing to integrate into the portfolio of the brand FPGAs that will complement the offer of AMD in its products for the server market.
This will also allow to compete with Intel, which since 2015 has entered the field of FPGAs by buying Altera for $ 16.7 billion.
Now that all the conditions have been met, the transaction will be finalized on February 14.
