What about Intel’s FAB public aid in Germany?

We’ve already talked about it at length, but for some time now there has been plans for an Intel processor production plant in Germany, in Magdeburg to be precise. However, following the company’s recent poor results, this project is now on hold and there is a debate in Germany about what will happen to the aid initially allocated for the project.

Intel FAB in Germany suspended, what will happen to the aid?

Despite all these ups and downs, it still doesn’t look as if the blue’s plan to set up in Germany has been abandoned, but it clearly won’t be for a while. Indeed, sources indicate that these plans have been postponed until 2029/2030(Tom’s Hardware). In other words, there’s plenty of time between now and then for the project to fall by the wayside.

However, what is currently being debated in Germany is what will happen to the money allocated to the American company’s subsidy. And this is a matter of debate, since some people want to reinvest the €10 billion initially allocated to this project to support the German economy. Others, on the other hand, want the money to be used for long-term projects and environmental initiatives.

Without being too pessimistic, Intel’s plans to set up in Germany seem compromised. The date of 2029/2030 seems to be no more than a placeholder, not to say simply ‘cancelled’. As for Germany’s economic situation, it remains to be seen whether the country will still have the means to invest such a sum. To be continued.
