A new batch of SSDs from Western Digital, with the WD_BLACK SN850P. Behind this reference are SSDs designed for Sony’s PlayStation 5. The perfect way to expand your console’s storage capacity without the hassle!
WD_BLACK SN850P, a PlayStation SSD with the PlayStation logo!
As you can see, this new series of SSDs comes with a heatsink installed as standard. However, its special feature is that it’s perfectly sized to fit into the console’s storage bay. What’s more, the PlayStation logo on the heatsink is unmistakable!
Otherwise, Western Digital offers three different capacities. There are 1TB, 2TB and 4TB models. Normally, you should have what you need to install your games with peace of mind.
As for performance, this series boasts sequential read speeds of 7.3 GB/s and write speeds of 6.3 GB/s. Random performance is rated at 800k IOPS for reading and 1100k IOPS for writing. Last but not least, life expectancy can reach 2,400 TBW for the 4TB version, 1,200 TBW for 2TB and 600 TBW for 1TB.
As for prices, it’s hard to say, but we expect them to be more expensive than the PlayStation-licensed WD_BLACK SN850s currently on offer (see comparison above).
