VP4000 Mini, a new batch of M.2 2230 SSDs from Patriot

More and more SSDs in M.2 2230 format have been appearing recently. The success of the Steam Deck and the ROG Ally is no stranger to this format, since that’s the type of SSD they use. The Patriot brand is now offering a batch of VP4000 Mini models in M.2 2230 format!

VP4000 Mini: M.2 2230 SSDs up to 2TB!

Patriot VP4000 MiniThese new SSDs are ultra-compact models in M.2 2230 format. The brand’s aim is to offer storage solutions for machines such as Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go and Microsoft Surface.

To this end, the company has opted for a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface to guarantee a minimum of performance. In fact, the announced data rates are 5 GB/s for reading and 3.5 GB/s for writing. In terms of capacity, there’s plenty to upgrade Valve’s console, with SSDs available in 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB capacities. As a reminder, a basic Steam Deck is 512 GB!

Now all that remains is to find out what Patriot puts in its SSDs, and that’s where things get complicated. The controller used is unknown, as is the memory. However, we do know that endurance is 450TB for the 2TB version.

Finally, availability is scheduled for 2024, so no price is known.
