Unboxing MSI MEG Z890 ACE: what a beauty!

The arrival of the new Intel Core Ultra 200S processors and their new socket has led to a complete renewal of the motherboard ranges from the major manufacturers. After the Intel press kit delivered with a magnificent MSI Unify-X that we presented to you here, MSI has given us another surprise. In the final hours before the end of the NDA on Intel CPUs, we received a richly endowed kit based around the MEG Z890 ACE. Although this board is not aimed at the same audience as the Unify-X, we might as well say it straight away, it really caught our eye during all those long hours of testing and manipulation. You can find out more about the MSI press kit in the video here :

MSI ACE: a quick look back

The last time we had the opportunity to hold an MSI ACE model in our hands was to test the Z590 chipset, which had just been released in 2021… The card was already a fine piece of kit, but what we have here today clearly reflects MSI’s desire to tease the ultra-premium models of its rival Asus.

MEG Z890 ACE: first contact

The first point of contact is always the box, and it has to be said that MSI has gone for sobriety… An element which no doubt contributed to our pleasant surprise when we were able to take the card in hand. As you can see, there’s no need to dwell too long on the packaging. The packaging is of course typical of a top-of-the-range product, with key technical information. The first shock comes when you pick up the card… It weighs a ton! It’s really impressive.

The first thing to note about this weight is that MSI has clearly pulled out all the stops when it comes to heatsinks. It’s a completely new design, including the way in which the power supply and SSDs are cooled.

The rear Shield is also there to ensure better dissipation and it obviously contributes to the weight of the card.

As you know, we had the opportunity to discover the entire range of motherboards at the MSI factory in Shenzhen(see our video of the production line). During our visit, we saw exclusive models as well as the rest of the range for both Intel and AMD. All the models we saw and handled were magnificent. The MEG Z890 Ace is no exception.
