In the Puget Systems database, there are a few entries featuring new Threadripper processors. Indeed, a Threadripper Pro 7985WX makes its appearance. It’s already a beautiful baby, with no less than 64 cores!
Threadripper Pro 7985WX, a first appearance in the Puget Systems DB!
As you can see, the features section shows a new-generation Threadripper CPU at work. The latter is none other than a 7985WX already equipped with a good number of cores: 64 in all. However, this new generation of processor, based on Zen 4, could well go even further, with a total of 96 cores for the Threadripper 7995WX.
For the time being, we can only guess that the CPU manages up to four memory channels, as evidenced by the eight DDR5 memory bars installed on the platform. By the way, the card itself remains unknown, as the entry shows a model named “AMD BoulderGulch-STP”, so we won’t know any more. Finally, to complete the tests, an RTX A5000 was mounted on the configuration.
Apparently, several scores were shared via the @BenchLeaks twitter account. However, these no longer seem to be accessible, but according to hardware.info, the results were not consistent. So it’s hard to get a precise idea of this CPU ‘s performance, since AMD is reportedly still optimizing it. To be continued.
