Another year without Threadripper?

Many of us are waiting for the update of the AMD HEDT family. Several rumors suggested that in August we could finally discover the new generation based on Zen 3… The summer has now passed and still no official information on the subject… The latest rumor evokes a launch of the HEDT “Chagall” series in November, but other sources such as the leaker specialized on AMD Greymon55, seem to question more and more the arrival of CPUs on 2021. The Threadripper 5000 (Zen 3) are waiting since the end of 2020

Hoped for the end of 2020, the most optimistic imagined a launch in fanfare at CES 2021 (in January) but the postponements have continued to multiply. However, this summer, AMD officially launched the Threadripper PRO 5000 series and the WRX80 platform, a very discreet launch including in terms of availability. On the other hand, no other information about the non-PRO 5000 series has leaked out. The “pro” Threadripper 5995WX and 5945WX CPUs made their discreet appearance in the middle of the summer.

Threadripper If we had to make do with this new postponement, we could hope that eventually AMD will use the Zen3+ microarchitecture instead of Zen3. We could then have the big 6nm Threadrippers equipped with a vertical 3D cache, which could explode the performance. But this prospect seems very hypothetical when the Threadripper PRO 5000 range is already launched. Indeed, it is difficult to announce a Threadripper 5000 that is so far away from its big “pro” brother.
