The Thermaltake Casemod 2026 began in January. It’s time to give a second update on the progress of my project. As a reminder, this competition pits eight modders against each other using the same configuration. As promised, I will regularly share news, successes, doubts, and, above all, lessons learned here. Because, from my point of view, this event is first and foremost an opportunity to learn new things and meet new people.

Casemod 2026: it’s becoming a reality

In my previous update, I lamented the intangible nature of the early stages. Lots of 3D design, lots of quotes, but not much modding ! However, things have progressed significantly since then. In particular, the first part of the tank has arrived. This is the pump top. It is a superb brass piece.

And that’s not all. I finally found a company willing to produce the other parts of the tank (both parts are made of acrylic). Production has just started. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a great result.

Lots of painting

At the same time, the first painting work has been done. Sanding, priming, then two coats on:

  • All chassis panels
  • Heat sinks and accents on the motherboard
  • Radiators

Several days of work later, the parts are ready for the “rust” treatment corresponding to the desired style. So I spend my evenings watching videos on the subject to get the best possible effect.

And lots of 3D

Finally, the 3D-printed accents are starting to come to life. Even though I’m not particularly fond of 3D printing itself and much prefer working on the chassis, I have to admit that seeing the parts I designed on Nomad Sculpt come to life is somewhat magical. In my opinion, modding today must incorporate 3D printing, but not be limited to it.

As with this whole adventure, I am fortunate to be surrounded by great people. A friend of mine, equipped with the famous Bambulabs H2D, takes care of the large prints. His expertise makes a huge difference.

The project is progressing well and morale is high as we finally enter the best phase. See you soon for the next update!
