The spearhead of the Xeon W-2400 series of server processors, the Xeon W7-2495X, makes its appearance on GeekBench. On this test, the processor does not appear faster Core i9 13900K … The fault of slower frequencies?

Xeon W7-2495X, slower than a 13900K on GeekBench!

With this CPU, Intel offers us a model with a total of 24 cores and 48 threads. All this little world works at 2.5 GHz with a boost frequency that can reach 4.8 GHz on paper. Similarly, we can count on a total of 45 MB of cache memory and a TDP of 220W.

As for the results, in single-core, this model displays a score of 1497 pts against 24658 pts in multi-core. Against its direct competitor, the Threadripper Pro 5965WX, the multi-core scores are about 12% higher for a similar single-core result.

Nevertheless, where the comparison hurts is against the general public models. Indeed, a Core i9 13900KS or a Ryzen 9 7950X do as well, or even better. Thus, a 13900KS scores 26774 pts in multi-core, and the same for a 7950X and its almost 24400 pts. The reason behind these scores would be linked to the frequency reached by the CPU during the test. Indeed, the average frequency was about 3.9 GHz.

Now, we must not lose sight of the fact that we are dealing with a server model and that the comparison is not very relevant. Also, depending on the application, if it takes into account a large number of threads or not, the results will be quite different. To finish, let’s specify that the launch date is expected for February 15th.
