The Steam Deck reveals a little more

For those who don’t know, the Steam Deck from Valve is a portable game console running under Steam OS 3.0 (derived from Linux). This portable console is, on paper, not really exceptional in terms of its hardware. Nevertheless, a combination of judicious choices allows it to announce a relatively affordable price as well as the possibility to play in decent conditions most of the PC titles you know.

The Steam Deck APU: Zen + RDNA2

The Steam Deck is coming in a few days…Normally

Valve’s portable console should be officially launched on February 25. Don’t expect to buy it on that date since that date should mark the beginning of the consoles’ shipment to the first customers who pre-ordered last year. Based on the AMD Van Gogh APU (also known as Aerith), the Steam Deck benefits from a custom 7nm design based on the Zen2 and RDNA2 microarchitecture. The presence of a RDNA2 graphics part brings a significant improvement in performance compared to Vega present in current APUs. The Steam Deck APU has not yet revealed all its secrets, and to get the ball rolling, Valve has entrusted two copies to iconic North American “influencers” of the market.

The latter were able to inspect the heart of the machine with a complete disassembly. We’ll have to wait to get more information, but of course it won’t be long now… We hope so, because some of us were also the first “buyers” of the console last year…
