At a time when component prices are skyrocketing, especially for memory, there are still a number of little upgrades that are both unnecessary and essential. This little find comes to us from AliExpress and is called HAGiBiS Floppy Disk. A floppy disk-shaped external enclosure that transforms M.2 NVMe 2242 and 2230 SSDs into external storage solutions.
Gadget? Yes, but the idea is too good and too cheap to deprive ourselves of a little “fun” these days… The HAGiBiS Floppy Disk is available for €17 including delivery, with a choice of three colors.
In terms of real-world performance, a Micron 2500 SSD delivers over 1000 MB of read and write performance. Not exactly the 10Gbps claimed, but more than enough for an external backup solution.
The 30-minute stress test temperature reached 51 degrees on the chip and 40 degrees on the floppy. This shows that heat dissipation is pretty good for a product of this type.
In short, we’re obviously not talking about a technological revolution, but about a small product that won’t break the bank and will no doubt bring a smile to your face every time you get your hands on it.
