A new SSD reference from Crucial: the T500. With this new SSD, the brand pushes data rates to the limits of the PCIe 4.0 x4 interface. In fact, this new model boasts particularly high data rates!
T500: reaching the limits of PCIe 4.0 x4!
The program features an M.2 format SSD in two versions. The first benefits from a heatsink, while the second has none. Depending on whether or not your motherboard is equipped with an M.2 heatsink… Or even for installation in a PS5, for example.
Naturally, the SSD uses a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface. It is also equipped with a 232-layer TLC 3D NAND memory chip and a Phison E25 memory controller. All this translates into sequential throughputs of up to 7.4 GB read vs. 7 GB/s write. Randomized performance rises to 1,180,000 IOPS in read mode, against 1,400,000 IOPS in write mode. Lastly, endurance is announced at 300 TBW for 500 GB, 600 TBW for 1 TB and 1,200 TBW for 2 TB.
In terms of capacities, we’ll have 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB versions. Note that only the 1TB and 2TB models will be offered with heatsinks. In the future, at the beginning of 2024, a 4TB version should be launched!
All that’s left is to talk about prices, which range from €101.99 for 500 GB to just under €200 for 2 TB without heatsink. In between, the 1TB version retails for €136.79 on the brand’s store. If you opt for heatsink-equipped SSDs, expect to pay €147.59 for 1TB and €205.19 for 2TB.
