Thermaltake launches a new line of power supplies with its Smart BX3 Bronze. We’re talking about entry-level power supplies with low power and low efficiency. Nevertheless, the aim is to keep prices down for small budgets or small configurations.

Smart BX3 Bronze: from €55 to €75!

Thermaltake Smart BX3 BronzeWith this series, Thermaltake concentrates on the essentials. Efficiency is kept to a minimum, and the power supply is certified 80 Bronze. As for cable management, it’s non-modular, so you end up with all the wires attached to the block. In terms of power, we’re sticking to the standard 550W, 650W and 750W units. Even so, you’ll be able to power a good little configuration!

Internally, the brand features a single 12V rail, and all the necessary protections are present. As for the capacitors, we find “high quality” models in 105°C, but no details are given as to their origin.

Finally, we find semi-passive cooling provided by a 120 mm fan. We don’t know up to what percentage of load this fan will remain switched off.

Despite ATX 3.1 compliance, don’t expect to find a 12VHPWR or 12V-2×6 connector. Here, you’ll have to make do with two PCIe 6 2-pin, four SATA and four Molex… In addition to the 24-pin ATX and EPS12V CPU, doubled on the 750W model. This weak connectivity means you’ll have to install all your storage units in the same place, as you won’t have a second cable available to connect those at the other end of the case.

As for prices, they don’t really break the bank: €55 for 550W, €65 for 650W and €75 for 750W.
