Information on future processors based on the Zen 6 architecture is sparse. AMD is obviously stingy when it comes to information, even though the company has already announced the future EPYC Venice range. But in the last few hours, some information has been revealed by the creator of the Hydra tuning software, Yuri Bubliy aka 1usmus.
First of all, he confirms a number of rumors that have been circulating for some time. On future Ryzen systems using Zen 6, he believes he has confirmation that AMD has chosen to increase the number of cores per CCD to twelve from the previous eight, and that it is now adopting two separate memory controllers instead of one. This confirms previous rumours on this subject. Ryzen Zen 6 chips could feature 2x CCD and 1x IOD (in the high version).
At this stage, it’s hard to get a clear idea of what AMD is planning for memory management with Zen 6. The assumption is that AMD has opted for an independent controller per DDR5 channel, which would offer significantly higher memory frequencies. Such an evolution could also pave the way for compatibility with CUDIMM memory modules.
Finally, on the overall gain expected from Zen 6, he points out that the information at his disposal points in the direction of an evolution, not a revolution. Obviously, the number of cores will increase, but this also seems to mean that AMD won’t be making any fundamental changes to its CPU architecture.
While all this information obviously falls into the category of rumours and should be taken with a grain of salt, it does at least allow us to say that AMD is not behind schedule. So, at this point, we can still hope for an arrival in the second half of 2026.
