If you’ve been waiting impatiently for the new AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D processors, good news: the wait shouldn’t be too long now. In fact, rumors of a launch in the first half of March are already circulating. The new generation is on its way!
Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D: launch on March 11?
As a reminder, these processors will be the successors to the Ryzen 9 7950X3D and Ryzen 9 7900X3D. These CPUs feature sixteen and twelve Zen 5 cores respectively. Their special feature is the addition of 3D V-Cache , boosting their L3 cache memory capacity. As a result, the CPUs go from 64 MB of L3 to 128 MB respectively.
However, unlike the 9800X3D, which has just one CCD, these models have two, but only one 3D-Vache die. As you can see, we’re dealing with the same issues as the Ryzen 7950X3D and 7900X3D, with more random performance in game, where the X800X3Ds fare much better. Here’s an article to explain why.
Otherwise, the rest of the specifications highlight frequencies of 5.7 GHz for the 16-core model and 5.5 GHz for the 12-core. Finally, the TDPs are 170 and 120W respectively.
In short, when they were announced at CES this year, AMD didn’t give a launch date or price. Now, via the ITHome forum, we learn that the supposed launch of these CPUs will take place on March 11. Of course, this statement should be taken with a grain of salt, so we’ll have to wait and see.
At the same time, the same post indicates that Intel will launch its Arrow Lake-HX mobile processors the following day, March 12. This is the mobile adaptation of the Arrow Lake processors, the largest model of which will feature 8 P-Core and 16 E-Core processors, all running at 5.5 GHz in turbo mode.
