New rumors have surfaced from Red Gaming Tech. He gives us a few hints as to the performance increase proposed by AMD for its Ryzen 8000. According to him, the gains will be massive!

Ryzen 8000: big Cinebench scores to look forward to?

AMD Ryzen 8000 Zen 5

According to Red Gaming Tech, the Ryzen 8000, using the Zen 5 architecture, will offer massive performance gains. However, these will not be the result of an increase in the number of cores or frequency gains, no. He indicates that the architectural changes will be significant enough to boost processor performance.

With Zen 4 and its Ryzen 7000s, the Reds focused mainly on new technologies. As we have seen, the AM5 platform brought support for DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0 on the AMD side. Of course, higher frequencies were also on the agenda, as was the AVX-512, and so on.

Now that all this has been done, it’s safe to say that AMD is going to improve its processors by making architectural changes. In any case, Cinebench R23 scores are improving. In multi-threaded mode, the potential Ryzen 9 8950X would hit 49,000 pts compared with 39,000 pts for a Ryzen 9 7950X. That’s a nice 25% gain. In single threads, there are rumours that the scores obtained are in the upper 2,000 pts bracket, i.e. between 2,500 and 3,000 pts. Once again, the Ryzen 7000s pale into insignificance at around 2,100 pts.

The scores given were for engineering samples. Between now and launch, this figure could well rise even higher. Finally, here is the rest of the score range according to the number of cores:

  • 12 cores: ~36,000 pts
  • 8 cores: ~23,000 pts
  • 6 hearts: ~17,000 pts

Of course, in order not to give away too much about its source, Red Gaming Tech provides scores rounded to the nearest thousand points. What’s more, gains on Cinebench are always good to take, but they only represent a very specific type of workload. Will these gains be similar in games? In compression? In development? We’ll have to keep an eye on this, especially as we’ll be taking all this with a grain of salt since these are still just rumors.
