If Intel has just regained the lead in the performance race with its Raptor Lake, AMD does not intend to stop there and should release some Ryzen 7000 X3D in 2023. With these versions, AMD will surely take back the crown in the gaming performance category. It remains to be seen when these Ryzen with 3D V-Cache will actually be available and at what price. In a tighter economic context, AMD hopes these X3D versions will attract more massive new gamers to the AM5 platform. The available volume of these Ryzen 7000 X3D should be much higher than what we have seen ( or not ) with the Ryzen 5000 X3D. Moreover, the limitation of overclocking on this previous generation should also jump with a better control of the process.
In this story everything will be a question of price obviously and timing. The presentation at CES 2023 (early January) does not presume the actual launch and availability of these chips.
Indeed, from the second part of 2023, Intel should normally showcase its Meteor Lake chips. This promising generation will have a different architecture and an engraving process that is really competitive with the TSMC process used by AMD. On the other hand, it will undoubtedly be necessary to change the socket and therefore to pay again. A situation that penalizes AMD at the moment but that will normally be behind it by then.
