Ryzen 7000 sales are not good

0

It’s been almost two weeks now since AMD launched four models of Ryzen 7000 processors based on the new Zen 4 architecture. You may have noticed with our tests on these processors that AMD has a number of strong points with this new generation, especially in terms of performance. However, since the launch, the observation is more or less the same everywhere on our good old planet: however, AMD seems to have difficulties to convince people to buy them.

One reseller said that if they were to compare the 7000 series to the 5000 series, they would need months to sell the volumes of Zen 4 chips that they sold in a few hours during the Zen 3 launch.

The most relevant (and regular) indicator is often the CPU sales figure at Mindfactory. Regular data that allows for a good analysis of what is going on in one of Germany’s largest distributors. In the launch week, 78% of AMD’s sales were AM4 parts, and the following week this figure rose to 94%.

Ryzen 7000: the entry ticket makes you think

However, it should also be noted that the Ryzen 7000 sales figures are better than those achieved by Intel for the launch of Alder Lake last year. So the disappointment is related to AMD’s previous launch history. Ryzen 7000 sales are very limited compared to previous Ryzen generation launches.

Keep in mind, however, that the current climate is not very favorable. Global tensions are creating concerns that are weighing on consumption as a whole. Moreover, switching to AM5 implies a significant budget since the platform is brand new. A situation that puts a lot of PC hardware consumers in a waiting position. On this subject, it will be interesting to observe the behavior of the 13th generation Intel for which the entry ticket will be more moderate (the upgrade with gen 12 and the possibility of still using DDR4 may soften the bill).
