Lately, rumors have been circulating about AMD and the potential launch of new Ryzen processors equipped with 3D V-Cache memory. Little by little, things are beginning to unravel, and we’ve learned that the Ryzen 7 9850X3D is now seriously confirmed. The CPU appears on the brand’s website, in the French branch driver section. Ryzen 7 9850X3D: the CPU appears on AMD’s French website!
Broadly speaking, we can expect this CPU to have a similar specification to that of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. We therefore expect an eight-core CPU with hyperthreading. The whole would benefit from a total of 96 MB of L3 cache, 32 MB present on the CPU ‘s CCD and a further 64 MB available via the addition of a 3D V-Cache layer. The result is a processor that boosts gaming performance. This type of workload is very fond of L3 cache.
Well, now it’s more complicated, since we still have to determine the operating frequencies. At this level, it’s rumoured that the Ryzen 7 9850X3D should run at 5.6 GHz in turbo mode, with a base frequency of 4.7 GHz. The TDP is said to be 120W. In contrast, the current 9800X3D has a base frequency of 4.7 GHz, turbocharged to 5.2 GHz. The new model would therefore be 500 MHz faster, all for a similar thermal envelope.
All that remains is to deal with the question of selling price, which is likely to be tricky, especially for an 8-core processor. Officially, the 9800X3D is priced at $479, but it’s not impossible that this new model will be priced at around $500, which would be a tricky price to pay for a CPU with this many cores. As for the launch, it’s hard to say, but AMD could reserve an announcement for CES!
