Ryzen 7 5800X3D in Cinebench: only 3.5% better than a 5800X?

As the launch time seems to be getting closer for the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, a first performance indication has just leaked under Cinebench R20. If this leak is serious, let’s be honest, it’s not very encouraging. In this benchmark, the single-core test gives 651 points, which is an improvement of 3.5% compared to its big brother, the Ryzen 5800X, which offers a score of 629 points….Yes but… However, this leak should make us particularly cautious.

Is the Ryzen 7 5800X3D really a fake?

Of course, the 5800X3D achieves this result with a lower operating frequency than the classic 5800X ( Base/Turbo of 3.40/ 4.50 GHz for the 5800X3D, while the 5800X runs at 3.80/4.70 GHz. This could be good news if AMD had not communicated that overclocking of this CPU was not possible. Worse, the Reds have asked motherboard manufacturers to remove overclocking support in the UEFI /BIOS for the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. 5800X3D Even if we are waiting for other scores ( especially multithreaded performance ) to make a complete opinion, the interest of this processor really seems to be more and more limited.

A score / leak that raises questions

The leakage of this score is really questionable. Not that the origin is doubtful but the interpretation of the information is perhaps not the right one. If we look a little more at the publications of @momomo_us we realize that the information communicated is actually a piece of the product reference of the future CPU.

However, let’s come back to the interest of this future CPU for which AMD has nevertheless dashed the hopes of the most optimistic with the blocking of the O/C. The reason for this “blocking” requested by AMD is unknown for the moment. We must keep in mind that this processor is the first to experiment with the use of 3D V-Cache memory while keeping the same TSMC 7nm manufacturing process. Given its price positioning, a choice of this reference does not really seem a good idea especially since its availability should be very limited.
