AMD could finally hit NVIDIA hard with the launch of its RX 9000 series. Up until now, we’ve been in the dark when it comes to pricing, and it has to be said that the Reds have been keeping a particularly tight lid on things. However, the company organised an announcement event in China during which the prices were announced. You can expect to pay 4,999 yuan for the 9070 XT and 4,499 yuan for the RX 9070!
RX 9000 series: $550 and $600 for AMD’s cards!
Chinese prices were announced at the event, and you can expect to pay 4,999 yuan for the RX 9070 XT and 4,499 yuan for the non-XT. In terms of currency conversions, this gives us prices in dollars of $599 and $549, well below NVIDIA’s prices. As a reminder, the RTX 5070 Ti is priced at $750, or 25% more!
Of course, it remains to be seen what kind of performance AMD will be offering with these cards. However, the latest rumours point to an RX 9070 XT 42% more powerful than the RX 7900 GRE. In broad terms, this puts the new red card up against the RTX 4080 and the RX 7900 XTX. As it stands, AMD should be able to match NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 Ti at a much lower price.
Will these prices be respected?
Now we’re wondering what the real prices will be. We now know that the company will not be offering a reference card. Only the brand’s partners will be offering cards with personalised versions. It remains to be seen whether these partners will meet AMD’s target prices. We suspect, however, that MSRP models will be launched, but will stocks follow? Wouldn’t brands be tempted to favour their more premium versions? Stay tuned.
In any case, this information bodes well for the Reds. If these prices are indeed the right ones for us in the West, AMD has the potential to seriously regain market share. Especially as the Green’s cards are currently out of stock: no RTX 50 and no RTX 40 to compete with. In contrast, AMD has been supplying the shops since January. They must be bursting at the seams with RADEON!
EDIT: of course, these are prices derived from those announced in China. For us in Europe, we’ll have the answer during the brand’s live announcement at 2pm this afternoon. Once again, depending on VAT rates and currency conversions, this price may vary.
