The situation is getting seriously complicated for the GeForce RTX 50 series. After several months during which these graphics cards had weathered inflation relatively better than RAM or SSDs, Blackwell GPUs are now facing a sharp price increase.
RTX 50: Prices Soar by Up to 39% in the U.S.
In the United States, a comparison was made of the median prices of cards available on Newegg between June and August 2026. The increase is particularly steep in the mid-range segment. The GeForce RTX 5060 has gone from $369.99 to $469.99, a 27% increase. The RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB climbed from $569.99 to $804.99, a 39% increase, while the RTX 5070 jumps from $659.99 to $899.99, a 36% increase. These prices do not reflect the cheapest model available at any given time. In fact, the measurement methodology deliberately uses the median price of models currently on the market to better represent the price at which a buyer is actually most likely to find a card in stock.

The comparison with launch prices is even harder to swallow. An RTX 5060 was announced at $299 in 2025, while its median price now stands at $469.99. As for the RTX 5070, which launched at $549, its median price is now $899.99. Moreover, the price hike is no longer limited to the United States. In South Korea, observed or announced price increases range from about 20% to 30%, depending on the model. The RTX 5070 12 GB is selling for around 1.1 million won, or about $767, while some RTX 5090 32 GB models now cost 7.3 million won, or more than $5,000. At the same time, Japanese distributor Sofmap warns that restocking the RTX 5070, RTX 5070 Ti, and RTX 5080 is becoming difficult. The RTX 50 series thus appears to be caught in a bind, with strong demand on one hand and increasingly uncertain availability of graphics memory on the other.
This situation raises questions about Nvidia’s actual strategy regarding the launch of the RTX 50 Super series…Is this still a goal, or just another illusion?
