RTX 4070, 4060 Ti and 4060 with new chips?

Recycling at NVIDIA is nothing new. Indeed, it’s not uncommon for the brand to re-use larger GPUs for its smaller graphics cards. This is exactly the subject of today’s new rumor. According to MEGAsieGPU on X, the RTX 4070, 4060 Ti and RTX 4060 are about to receive new GPUs!

At present, NVIDIA’s graphics cards run on the GPU with which they were designed. This means an RTX 4070 with an AD104-251, an RTX 4060 Ti with an AD106-350 and an RTX 4060 with an AD107-400.

However, according to the leaker in question, these cards are about to receive new chips. This would give us :

  • RTX 4070: AD103-175-KX
  • RTX 4060 Ti : AD104-150-KX
  • RTX 4060 : AD106-255

Clearly, we’re dealing with a typical case of recycling, where NVIDIA reuses larger GPUs for its lower-end cards. This is common practice for the brand, as it avoids waste.

However, we shouldn’t expect any change in the characteristics of the cards in question, especially as the RTX 40 Super are brand new. However, we can expect some practical changes, such as lower heating due to a larger GPU (greater surface area in contact with the heatsink), and slightly higher power consumption. In short, we’re not telling you anything, since this isn’t the first time this has happened.

Apparently, these models will start to arrive on the market this month.
