RTX 4060: ~23% faster than RTX 3060 12GB on 3DMark

As we’ve been saying, the closer we get to the launch of the RTX 4060, the more leaks appear. This time, it concerns the card’s 3DMark scores, which put it on average 23 th better than the RTX 3060!

RTX 4060: 23 th better than RTX 3060 on 3DMark!

So we can thank VideoCardz for obtaining 3DMark scores for NVIDIA’s forthcoming card. In fact, despite a memory configuration close to that of an xx50 series, the 4060 performs rather well in 3DMark tests. The results obtained place the card well ahead of the 3060 12GB, and even worse against the 3060 8GB, which shares a similar memory configuration.

RTX 4060 3DMarkIn fact, the scores obtained by the little Ada Lovelace card are on average 22.8% higher than those of the 3060 12 GB. Compared with the 3060 8 GB, we’re around 47.9!

According to our colleagues at Overclock3D, the reason for such a comfortable gap with the 3060 12/8 GB is the use of a faster memory chip. In fact, we’ve gone from 15 Gbps to 17 Gbps, improving bandwidth from 240 GB/s (3060 8 GB) to 272 GB/s. However, this is still less than the 360 GB/s of the 3060 12 GB. Another important factor to take into account is the doubling of L2 cache memory!

However, bear in mind that some tests in the 3DMark suite exploit technologies such as DLSS and Frame Generation. This tends to inflate the differences between new and old-generation models. What’s more, we mustn’t forget that 3DMark, while providing an idea of card performance, is not always indicative of in-game performance. We’ll be keeping a close eye on how this 4060 performs on VRAM-intensive titles such as the Resident Evil 4 remake !
