ROMED8QM-NL : an Epyc motherboard in ATX from ASRock Rack !

0

ASRock Rack launches a new motherboard with the ROMED8QM-NL, a model that follows the X570D4I-NL which we talked about yesterday. The difference is in the format, but also in the type of processor hosted.

ROMED8QM-NL: a motherboard for Epyc 7003 in ATX format!

ASRock Rack ROMED8QM-NLVery clearly, we are dealing with an ATX format card with this model. It has an AMD SP3 socket and is compatible with the Epyc 7002 and Epyc 7003 CPUs with a bios update.

Anyway, we have here a model with an interesting connectic with two PCIe x16 4.0 connectors. These are completed by the presence of two OCP Mezzanine Type A and Tybe B offering PCIe 3.0 x8 interfaces.

The storage part is also very complete. Here, no SATA, nevertheless, we can count on three Slim SAS that can run in PCIe 4.0 x8 or give access to eight SATA III. In addition, we have four new Slim SAS in PCIe 4.0 x8 only. With this, an M.2 in PCIe 4.0 x4 (or SATA) is also present, as is a mini-SAS HD.

As far as memory is concerned, we can see that this model has no less than eight DIMM slots. This is normal, remember that Epyc CPUs manage 8 memory channels. However, the card can carry a large amount of RAM: up to 256 GB per slot with RDIMM or LRDIMM-3DS type memory. As for the frequency, we are limited to 3200 MT/s at 1.2 V.

Finally, on the back, the connectivity is limited to the maximum, as usual with server cards. Thus, we find two USB 3.2 Gen1 type A as well as a VGA and serial port. The graphics part benefits from an ASPEED AST2500 chip. Regarding the network, we have the right to Realtek RTL8211E dedicated to IPMI functions.

Finally, and this is unfortunate, we do not know the price of this type of hardware.
