It is from our Spanish friends that we get prices for the Intel Raptor Lake range. It is one of the largest online retailers in the country, PCComponentes, which has put on its site the entire range. Not surprisingly, the prices are almost identical to the leaks revealed last week in Germany. The exercise while waiting to know the real performance of this 13th generation Intel, is therefore to compare with Ryzen 7000. And it seems that in this little game, the situation turns to the advantage of the blue.
Raptor Lake: From 379.90 euros to 749.90 euros
If we start with the “small” i5, we find 2 versions with obviously different prices. The Core i5-13600KF, with its 14 cores and 20 threads configuration (6x P-Core + 8x E-Core) at 3.50/5.10 GHz, but without the integrated graphics, is positioned at a price of 379.90 €, while the “K” version, identical in specifications, but with the active iGPU, is priced at 409.90 €.
A price to compare with the Ryzen 7600X (again we do not address here the performance) that we can find between 360 and 380 €. The same delta can be found on the top of the range 13900KF which loses 30€ when you remove its IGP…
Making a PC with a Raptor Lake will be more economical than switching to AMD
In short, the head-to-head competition is just a few thousandths of an inch, but the real issue is the combo to use these new CPUs with a new card and a new RAM. And that’s where Intel comes into its own, taking advantage of the compatibility of the Alder Lake series of motherboards. Thus, it will cost much less to equip yourself with Raptor Lake than to switch to AM5 on much more expensive motherboards… A strategy that is not unlike the one that benefited AMD for years when the end customer could take advantage of the previous generation of motherboards to lower the prices.
