The LGA-1700 has ultimately had a very successful run at Intel, as this platform has supported several generations of processors. It was introduced to the market with Alder Lake, the famous Core i 12000 series, followed by Raptor Lake with the Core i 13000 series. Then we had Raptor Lake Refresh with the Core i 14000 series, but that’s not the end of the story. At Computex, industry colleagues received confirmation that the company is expected to release a new generation of CPUs on this socket: Raptor Lake Next. We don’t know much about them yet, other than that they’ll arrive shortly after Nova Lake.
Raptor Lake Next: heading toward a fourth series of LGA-1700 CPUs?
A new series to keepDDR4 alive!
With DDR5 prices having quadrupled,DDR4 feels like a safe haven with more affordable prices. There’s actually real demand for this type of memory, and it’s not uncommon to find older-generation processors among Amazon’s top sellers. For example, the Ryzen 7 5800X is the third best-sellingCPU, and it’s aDDR4-compatible model. Additionally, AMD has re-released its Ryzen 7 5800X3D as an anniversary edition.
On the Intel side, the company is sticking with the LGA-1700 socket; the Core i 14000 series is still available for purchase, despite the launch of Arrow Lake and Arrow Lake Refresh. In fact, this commitment will be carried forward with Raptor Lake Next.

Obviously, it’s difficult to be exhaustive about the specifications of these series, but it appears that the processors in this lineup will be named Core 200. According toleaker @jaykihn0, there should be at least fourCPUs planned:
- 8P-Cores and 8 E-Cores, all at 125W
- 8P-cores and 12E-cores at 65W
- 6P-cores and 4E-cores
- 4P-Cores
For now, there doesn’t seem to be a 24-core model on the horizon, but things can change quickly… Especially considering the launch window, which is expected to take place during the first half of 2027. Rumors suggest that the first processors should arrive a few months after the launch of the first Nova Lake models.
A story to watch, then, but the company seems to be taking a similar approach to AMD: the LGA-1954 for next-generation high-end processors while maintaining the LGA-1700 for budget solutions.
