There’s no doubt that RAM prices have soared in recent months. This makes it a high-value commodity, easy to steal because the packages are so compact. It seems that, especially in England, thefts of packages containing RAM are on the increase.
RAM thefts on the increase!
If you’re a frequent online shopper, you’ve probably come across parcels that never reach their destination. Well, lately, this trend has been gathering pace, especially in the UK, as we’ve heard. Some delivery drivers don’t hesitate to swipe a few small parcels. It has to be said that memory is stored in small parcels, making them easy to steal. What’s more, these parcels are easily identifiable by less-than-serious delivery drivers.
In short, on Reddit, there is a growing number of people reporting RAM packages never delivered or delivered empty. To counter this, some people even recommend buying a large, inexpensive item to cover their tracks.
At the same time, in the space of a few months, memory has gone from under €100 for a 32 GB kit to over €300 for a 32 GB kit at 6000 MT/s! Larger 64GB kits are even more stupidly priced: >€900 to €950! As a result, some unscrupulous delivery drivers don’t hesitate to put their jobs on the line to steal a memory kit to make ends meet, especially at the end of the year.
For the moment, we don’t know how common this trend is in France. According to our colleague in Spain, it isn’t, at least not yet. In any case, don’t forget the rules of good practice: take photos/videos of the unpacking of your parcel. Then, in the event of a claim, you’ll be able to provide the proof you need to cover yourself. This is all the more important at the end of the year, when Christmas deliveries are on the increase.
