A first PCIe 5.0 SSD on sale in Japan!

CFD Gaming SSD PCIe 5.0On the menu, we find a SSD M.2 2280, classic format. However, it is equipped with a rather massive aluminum heatsink while being topped by a 20 mm fan.

Internally, we learn that the manufacturer uses 3D TLC NAND memory from Micron. Similarly, a DDR4 cache is also present as the SLC caching system. Moreover, it also offers other features such as Predict & Fetch or Smart Data Processing.

In terms of performance, this 2TB model displays 10GB/s sequential read speeds against 9.5GB/s write speeds. Random performance is 1.5M IOPS.

As for the price, it is ¥49980 or about $385 after conversion. Wccftech indicates that depending on the taxes, this makes us a bill about 13% more expensive than a Samsung 990 Pro.

On our side, if we still haven’t seen the color of the PCIe 5.0 SSDs, it would be because of a delay of the Phison E26 controller. Initially, this type of SSD was to be launched in conjunction with the Ryzen 7000, Phison having made AMD its official partner.
