Noctua’s NH-D15 G2 was launched more than a year ago. In fact, we tested it when it arrived on the market in July 2024. However, the NH-D15 G2 chromax.black is now being teased by the Austrian brand. It’s coming soon!
NH-D15 G2 Chromax.black: it’s coming… Coming soon!
Clearly, the NH-D15 G2 is a big baby measuring 150 (W) x 152 (D) x 168 (H) mm. It’s a double-tower heatsink with a large number of copper heat pipes: eight. Likewise, it features more aluminum fins (compared to the first-generation D15), which increases the heatsink’s heat exchange surface.
And, big as it is, Noctua offsets the base to maximize compatibility with the first PCIe slot on a motherboard. Wouldn’t it be a shame not to be able to plug in a graphics card after mounting the heatsink?
In any case, ventilation is provided by two 140 mm NF-A12x25 G2 new-generation fans. The latter are particularly efficient, as we discovered here.
So, what can we expect with this black version? Quite simply, a completely black heatsink. It’s silly when you put it like that, but it’s also factually true. Thus, the fins, heatpipes and fans adopt a solid black color. It’s a fan that will be much easier to match in your configuration, unlike the brand’s historic brown/beige colors.
All that’s left is to wait until the launch to discover the selling price, which is likely to rise even further. Normally, this model is due to arrive by the end of the year, but it’s likely to hit the market in the next few weeks or even days.
