If you’ve got a 3D printer, that’s good news, because Noctua is making files available for 3D printing. These allow you to print fans yourself. Please note, however, that the printed models are not 100% faithful to the originals, and serve mainly as mock-ups to give you an idea of dimensions and overall appearance.
Noctua: back to 3D printing!
Models not 100% compliant :
Although the prints represent 1:1 scale models, they are not 100% faithful to the original fans. Indeed, for reasons of intellectual property conservation, the shape of the blades has been slightly modified. The aim is for the fans to strongly resemble the originals, without being perfectly reproducible… Otherwise, what’s the point of spending years designing windmills with no return on investment if you’re going to print them all by yourself in your garage?
What’s the real objective behind making these products available?
As you can see, with the printouts, you’ll have mock-ups at your disposal to ensure the compatibility of the fans in your installation. Above all, they act as mock-ups and serve as a visual reference for future integration. And let’s not forget that the structure of the printed versions doesn’t conform to the originals either. In fact, the brand itself states:
“ CAS models are provided for reference, viewing and integration purposes only and must not be used, in whole or in part, for the manufacture, reproduction or marketing of the product they represent or any similar product. “
So, the brand is keeping an eye on how its files might be used in the future. It seems obvious that this provides a solid basis for launching a fan production business, but this use seems to be monitored. So if you start a fan business with mills eerily similar to the Austrian’s or CAD files supplied, expect a visit from the lawyers.
You can find the said files at this address. The brand’s flagship references are offered, such as the latest NF-Ax25 G2, the NF-A20 or older models like the NF-F12 or NF-S12B.
