The RTX 4090 WindForce is now available in a new version, with major adjustments to the heatsink. In fact, the card’s 12VHPWR connector has been moved to the rear of the PCB. The advantage is that the cable is hidden, or at least less visible, when the card is installed in a PC!

RTX 4090 WindForce: new power connector placement!

Gigabyte RTX 4090 WindForceWith this new version, Gigabyte continues to offer a card whose dimensions are similar to those of a block. However, it is distinguished by a redesigned heatsink. As you can see from the visual above, one end is missing. This is perfectly normal, since the 12VHPWR power connector is now located at the rear of the PCB. In doing so, Gigabyte has simplified the connector’s connection.

This makes it easier to “securely” bend the cable, which, it should be remembered, must not be subjected to excessive stress. In view of the 600W it can carry, any significant bending or incorrect connection could result in the connector heating up and causing serious damage.

Last but not least, the connector is less visible, making for a more aesthetically pleasing installation. Special mention should be made of vertical installations, where the cable becomes almost invisible. Well, in the meantime, we can only hope that the PCB doesn’t crack prematurely.
