In Japan, MSI is launching a new motherboard with the Pro Z890-S WiFi Project Zero. As you’ll have gathered, this is a Back-Connect type model whose connectors migrate to the rear of the PCB for ultra-clean installation and, above all, with no visible cables. In short, if this launch takes place in Japan, the card will soon be arriving in Europe too.

Pro Z890-S WiFi Project Zero: coming soon to Europe!

MSI Pro Z890-Z WiFi Project ZeroOn the programme is a motherboard that takes advantage of the sober, uncluttered aesthetics of MSI’s Pro series. However, like many Back-Connect boards, this one will be fairing all over, as we can see. In the end, only the PCIe connectors and the RAM slots, which can handle speeds of up to 8000 MT/s, will be visible.

Speaking of connectors, there is one PCIe x16 5.0, plus two PCIe 3.0 x1 and two PCIe 4.0 x4. Despite these standards, the whole system uses a physical x16 connector. As for the M.2 part, while the first slot uses PCIe 5.0 x4, the other two slots make do with a 4.0 x4 interface. On the back of the card we now find a total of four SATA III slots to complete the storage section.

The I/O section features a 2.5 GbE Ethernet, while the WiFi 7 section uses easy-to-mount antenna. Audio is handled by a Realtek ALC897 chip. Finally, there’s a Thunderbolt 4 port, complemented by a 20 Gbps USB-C and six 5 Gbps USB-A ports.

While the EZ Antenna is present, there is no button for easy removal of the graphics card. Here, we can expect a prominent latch, while there is no tool-free mounting of the SSDs.

In terms of price, the card is priced at 42980 yen ex VAT in Japan. In Europe, this model is already in stock, priced from €270!
