The MAXSUN Ms-Terminator B850BKB WIFI motherboard is now available! And it’s not just any ITX board, as it features two PCIe slots. How does it work? The main slot is installed on the back of the board. What does it offer in detail?
MAXSUN B850BKB: a disruptive format
Innovation in the field of ITX motherboards is not easy. The constraints specific to this format lead manufacturers to redouble their inventiveness to improve storage capacities or the number of available ports. We’ve seen SSD slots stacked on top of each other, or remote modules. Nothing of the sort here, but a much bolder choice: the main PCIe slot (5.0 x16)Â is on the back of the card.
MAXSUN has already produced an Intel B760 model. Announced at Computex, the AM5 model has finally arrived. Beyond this unusual PCIe slot , the Ms-Terminator B850BKB boasts features worthy of the AM5 competition:
- 1 x16 PCIe 5.0 slot and 1 x4 slot
- dDR5 support up to 8400MT/s
- 2 M.2 slots, 2 SATA ports, RAID support
- USB up to 20Gbps
- WIFI 6E and Ethernet 2.5G
- 6 2 1 phases for a total of 200W
MAXSUN B850BKB: what’s it for?
As we mentioned in the article about the B760 model, this card format still has a lot to prove. It almost inevitably requires a dedicated case. It also requires a sometimes complex import process into Europe. But things are moving, and moving fast. MAXSUN’s distribution in Europe should improve over the coming year. As for the chassis, the format has already seduced designer XIKII, who is talking of offering the Ms-Terminator B850BKB WIFI as a bundle with his FF08 model. As with all hardware developments, we’ll have to be patient to find out whether the market will embrace the concept or not. We can only be enthusiastic when a manufacturer breaks new ground. For our part, we’re looking forward to putting this proposal to the test in real-life conditions!
