Lunar Lake: 1.5x better multithreading performance?

Intel’s future mobile processor architecture, Lunar Lake, is the talk of the town via @Bionic_Squash, a reliable source when it comes to Intel rumors. Indeed, the latter reports that the blues would boost multithreading performance by x1.5.

Intel Lunar LakeWith this generation of CPUs, Intel is focusing exclusively on the mobile market, with processors designed for notebook PCs . What’s more, power consumption remains low in absolute terms. The PL1 TDP is just 17W (up 2W on Meteor Lake), with the possibility of going up to 30W depending on the machine’s cooling capacity. What’s more, an 8W mode is available for passive machines!

In terms of configurations, we’ll find a set of P-Cores based on Lion Cove, while the E-Cores will benefit from the Skymont architect. As for the maximum configuration, we’ll have 2P8E2LP CPUs.

In short, according to the leaker, Cinebench R23 and GeekBench 5.4.5 scores would show performance improvements of x1.5. Unfortunately the results are not known, we imagine to protect the sources of the leaker in question. What’s more, this increase in multithreading performance is all the more important given that the architecture does not feature hyperthreading.

Processors using this architecture are due to appear by the end of the year. It’s also worth noting that the CPUs will benefit from a higher-performance NPU than Meteor Lake for AI-related tasks.
